A database software program is a system of storage for collection of data which records in a computer system. Database programs are used by almost every organization including those in the government, healthcare, private businesses, educational, finances, law courts, health care, real estate etc. All important data and records of an organization such as public records, census data, business transactions data etc. are stored in the database.
If you also decide to buy a database solution for your establishment, it is helpful to know the types and various uses of these different solutions. Depending on the nature of needs and requirements, you can choose the database solution that suits you best. First, there are the desktop databases. They are suitable for use in standard personal computers. And since they reside in PCs, they are oriented toward single-user applications. Desktop database solutions are available at cheap prices. If your system is loaded with Microsoft Access, you don't need to buy a desktop database solution. These database solutions are easy to use. Even people who don't have knowledge of SQL will find it user-friendly. They also provide limited web functionality such as publishing data on the web. Sometimes a database can be made accessible by a remote user through the Internet by signing in with a login name and a password. A user database is used mainly in educational institutions.

The next type, database programs are the server databases. They are a must when you set up a website. Since the Internet is open to all, multiple users will be accessing your data at the same time. As such the database management requirements are very high. Server databases are more sophisticated and also carry a higher price tag. These solutions have the ability to handle data management problems with ease and are also dynamic performers. They also have a high storing capacity which can handle high amount of ever increasing data and support multiple users and at a good speed too.
